MOUNT OLIVE -- Mary Lou Scott Herring, 90, of 1437 White Flash Road, died today at SunBridge Care Center.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Devotional Gardens at Warsaw.

Mrs. Herring was a native of Duplin County and was a retired homemaker. She was a long-time member of the Pleasant Grove Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church. For many years she sold Golden Pride and Rawleigh Products.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Taft Herring; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean H. and Cecil Kornegay; her father, Arnold J. Scott; her mother, Winnifred Holmes Scott; her step-mother, Oarrie Jones Scott; and four brothers, Ben W. Scott, Alton Scott, Nathan"Jim" Scott; and O. W. "Tipp" Scott.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, D. C. "Bill" and Carol H. Herring of Mount Olive; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet H. and Larry Howard of Mount Olive; eight grandchildren, Gerald Kornegay, Roger Kornegay, Kelvin Kornegay, Karen Kornegay Scalf, Michael Herring, Media' Herring Lee, Jeffrey Howard, and Patrick Howard, all of Mount Olive; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marcia Scott-Powell of Warsaw.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., and other times at the residence.
