WILLIAM NEWSOME

William Thomas Newsome, 85, a resident of Somerset Court, died today at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Interment will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cem-etery.

Mr. Newsome was a native of Wayne County and was the son of the late William Council Newsome and Jeanette Augusta Adkins Newsome. He was a retired farmer and had worked for twenty years as manager of Robo in Goldsboro and Wilson. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and his favorite pastimes were going for walks and playing bingo.

He is survived by one daughter, Teresa H. Young of Las Vegas, Nev.; one granddaughter, Heather Benchekrown of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Eleanor McCandless of Wilmington; a special great-niece, Vonda Earp of Princeton; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Mr. Newsome was preceded in death by five sisters, Katie Newsome, Clyde Newsome, Margaret Newsome, Mae Newsome and Pauline Newsome and two brothers, Bunyan Newsome and Arnold Joab Newsome.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Vonda Earp, 317 Capps Bridge Road, Princeton.
