JAMES L. THAXTON
James Leonard "Dink" Thaxton, 73, formerly of Norlina, died Thursday, November 11, 2004, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brindle Andrew Thaxton and Mayme Lloyd Thaxton, and his daughter, Diane Lee Thaxton.
Mr. Thaxton received his Bachelors from the University of Nebraska and his Masters from Central Michigan University. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. He was a retired NC Probation and Parole Officer and Veteran's Counselor at Wayne Com-munity College. Mr. Thaxton was an avid golfer and Gin Rummy player.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Warren Dale Cemetery in Norlina, N.C., at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2004.
The family will receive friends at anytime at their home in Goldsboro, N.C., and at the home of Shirley Hawks in Norlina following the funeral services on Monday.
Mr. Thaxton is survived by his wife, Dorothy Saintsing Thaxton; three daughters, Debora Thaxton Soule of Rock Spring, Wyo., and Donna Isarel and Denise Thaxton of Goldsboro; one brother, Robert L. Thaxton of Wilson, N.C.; and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center or to Oxford Masonic Orphanage, Oxford, N.C.
