CHARLIE BLACKMAN

FAISON -- The funeral for Charlie William Blackman, 85, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Royal-Hall Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will be in Wayne Memorial Park near Goldsboro.

Mr. Blackman died Saturday at Mount Vernon Nursing Home in Alexandria, Va.

He was a native of Wayne County and was the son of the late Leslie Raymond and Dora Lee Johnson Blackman. He graduated from Grantham High School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from the United States Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Nishikawa Blackman, and is survived by his second wife, Yasuko Nishikawa Blackman; a daughter, Barbara Ann Blackman of Springfield, Va.; a son, Charlie W. Blackman Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; six sisters, Margaret B. Gillis of Sylvester, Ga., Althea B. Chestnutt of Mount Olive, Annette Blackman of Faison and Dora Lee Tyndall, Nellie Honeycutt and Mildred Best of Clinton; one brother, Leslie R. Blackman Jr. of Faison.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday, and other times at the home of Annette Blackman, 1699 Giddensville Road, Faison.
