VIRGINIA VANDIFORD

GRIFTON -- Virginia Belle Vandiford, 81, died Sunday.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Little Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church in Ayden. Burial will be in Ayden Cemetery.

Mrs. Vandiford was the daughter of the late Charlie and Agatha Estelle May and the widow of Herbert Vandiford. She was a member of Little Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church and its Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are three sons, Jesse Ray Vandiford of Scuffleton, N.C., Richard Vandiford and wife, Brenda, of Scuffleton and Charlie Vandiford and wife, Judy, of Chicod, N.C.; three daughters, Lorena Bunn and husband, Kermit, of Snow Hill, Hilda Smith and husband, Sonny, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., and Virginia Shafer of New Ellenton, S.C.; four sisters, Janie Strickland and Patricia Anderson of Farmville, Allene Hardee of Chester Peak, Va., and Nell Goldstein of White Marsh, Va.; one special niece, Mary Eathey of Kinston; and 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Crawford; one granddaughter, Jennifer Renee Stancil, and a son-in-law, Bob Shafer.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Farmer Funeral Service in Ayden.
