SHIRLEY STRICKLAND

Shirley Lancaster Strickland, 69, of 380 Saulston Road passed away peacefully Sunday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Shirley was born in Wayne County to the late Siegfried Lancaster and Pauline Smith Lancaster and was the widow of Thomas Edward Strickland, longtime attorney in Goldsboro who passed away on November 26, 2003. Shirley will be remembered as a generous, caring and compassionate lady. The love of her life was God, family and friends.

Shirley was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Jimmy Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Dr. Ruth Ann Burlinson and husband, John, of Boone; her son, Larry Thomas Strickland and wife, Pamela, of Goldsboro; her grandson, Johnnie Burlinson of Boone; and a several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Cooper Lancaster.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Larry and Pamela Strickland, 4687 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro.
