JAMES ROSCOE DAVIS

PIKEVILLE -- James Roscoe Davis, 72, of 493 Lancaster Road, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Waitus Woodard Davis and Judith Lancaster Davis; and was married to the late Nancy Lou Bartlett Davis.

Mr. Davis was a retired meat cutter and a member of Mount Nelson Baptist Church in Eureka.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Mount Nelson Baptist Church with the Rev. Pete Bass and the Rev. Robie Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Pikeville Cemetery.

Mr. Davis is survived by one daughter, Vicky Davis Ezzell of Fremont; one son, James A. Davis of Pikeville; one sister, Myrtle Tillman of Pikeville; two grandchildren, Nancy Carolyn Ezzell and Tabatha Ezzell; and one great-grandson, Paul Austin.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Taylor.

The family will receive friends today from 4 until 5:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Peggy and Jimmy Evans, 340 Forehand Road, Goldsboro.
