ALTON MITCHELL
The funeral for Alton Dennis Mitchell, 54, of Pikeville, will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Reverends Kenneth Weaver and Richard Glosson will officiate.
Mr. Mitchell died Tuesday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.
He was born in Johnston County to the late Robert Lee and Florence Jones Mitchell and lived most of his life in the Nahunta Community of Wayne County.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bonnie Elmore Mitchell; two sons, Robert Mitchell and companion, Brenda Hales, of Nahunta and Dennis Ray Mitchell and wife, Lisa, of Nahunta; one daughter, Denise Kidd and husband, Chris, of Pikeville; three brothers; Jimmy Mitchell and wife, Yvonne, of Kenly, Cecil Mitchell and wife, Joanne, of Kenly and Sherwood Mitchell of Kenly; two sisters, Doris Pope of Benson and Carolyn Capps and husband, Bobby, of Hopewell, Va.; his mother-in-law, Carry Massey of Nahunta; sister-in-law, Carolyn Stone and husband, Carroll, of Kenly; and four grandchildren, Taylor Ray Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, CJ Kidd and Dustin Kidd.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight, and other times at the residence.
