ASHAYA McGOWAN

TURKEY -- The funeral for Ashaya Sabrino McGowan, 12, of 1777 Wilmington Road, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Kenansville. The Rev. Charlie McDowell will officiate. Burial will be in the Farrior Cemetery.

Ashaya died Tuesday from injuries received in an automobile accident.

She was a seventh-grader at Union Middle School and was a member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church in Warsaw.

Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Lakeshia and Dwight Jones of Mount Olive; her father and stepmother, Sidney and Tonya Farrior of Kenansville; two brothers, Jeffrey Leach and Tymir Leach of the home; three sisters, Nasani Jones of the home and Taniya and Latiya Farrior of Kenansville; her maternal grandparents, Woodell and Arletha McGowan of the home; her paternal grandparents, George and Kizzie Farrior of Kenansville; and her paternal great-grandmother, Ruth Faison of Faison.

Viewings will be held today from 3 until 5 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home in Mount Olive and from 6 until 7 p.m. at St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church in Warsaw. The family will be present at the church to greet relatives and friends.
