MARGARET HERRING

ALBERTSON -- Margaret Holmes Herring, 87, of 1965 Red Hill Road, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Charles W. Holmes and Daisy Scott Holmes, the widow of Delmus Dalton "Dock" Herring, and mother of the late Delmus Dalton Herring Jr. She was the well-known operator of Doc's Grocery at Herring's Crossroads.

The funeral services will be held at 3 p.m Friday at Tyndall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Craft officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Alise H. and Leroy Stalmach of Mount Olive, and Yvonne H. and Al Burchfield of Pink Hill; a sister, Daphna H. Blizzard of Surf City; a brother, Edward W. Holmes Sr. of Mount Olive; six grandchildren, Chris Stalmach of Pink Hill, Gina Stalmach Jones of Seven Springs, Derek Stalmach of Mount Olive, Terry Burchfield of Madill, Okla., Tammy Burchfield and Don Burchfield, both of Durant, Okla.; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was also the grandmother of the late Debbie Burchfield White.

Visitation will be tonight from 7 until 9 at Tyndall Funeral Home. At other times the family will gather at the home of Derek Stalmach, 1607 Red Hill Road, Mount Olive.
