MARJORIE BASS

EUREKA -- Marjorie Windham Bass, 81, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 16, 1922, in Wilson County, daughter of the late Albert Carlton Windham Sr. and Minnie Flora Windham. Marjorie was a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church for over twenty-five years and loved to garden, both with flowers and vegetables. She loved to read and care for her family.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held Friday, September 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Shackleford Funerals and Cremations with Reverend Robert Fletcher and Reverend Marion "Pete" Bass officiating. Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 Thursday night at the funeral home, and other times at the home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Eureka United Methodist Church, 128 N. Church Street, Eureka, N.C., 27830; or the American Cancer Society.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Windham Jr.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Will D. Bass of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and David Groce of Jonesville and Sandra and Dwight Jones of Eureka; grandchildren, Alex Groce, Andrea Groce, Dee Jones and his wife, Amy, and Angie Jones; sisters, Mary Cox and Barbara Turnage of Wilson; and brothers, Bill and Hubert Windham of Wilson and James Windham of Newport.

Arrangements are by Shackleford Funerals and Cremations, 102 N. Pine St., Fremont.
