GLENN HOOKS

FREMONT -- Robert Glenn Hooks, 84, of 203 S. Pender Street, Fremont, died at his home on Monday.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late William Junius Hooks and Vivian Delilah Smith Hooks and was married to the late Hazel Yelverton Hooks. Mr. Hooks was a graduate of Oak Ridge Military Institute.

He will be remembered for his love of family, friends, baseball and hunting.

Mr. Hooks was a member of Fremont United Methodist Church, the Fremont Historical Society, the Farm Bureau and several other agricultural organizations.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Fremont United Methodist Church with the Rev. Martin Armstrong and Elder John Hess officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Mr. Hooks is survived by his daughters, Amelia Hooks Harrison and husband, Cecil W. Harrison of Raleigh and Glenda Hooks Pollard of Raleigh; his sons, Robert Glenn (Rob) Hooks, Jr. of Bluffton, S.C. and Steven Bradley Hooks and wife, Lisa Huntley Hooks of Fremont; seven grandchildren, Stacy Elizabeth Pollard and her husband Peter Prineas, Patrick Scott Pollard, Webster Glenn Harrison, Andrew Hooks Harrison, Alexander Wayne Hooks, Max Matthew Hooks and Kelly Virginia Hooks.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Junius Hooks, Rudolph Hooks and Wayne Hooks.

The family would like to express appreciation to friends and caregivers for their love and support. Memorials may be made to Fremont United Methodist Church Building Fund, 106 N. Sycamore Street, Fremont, NC 27830, or the Wayne County Home, Health and Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or Charles B. Aycock Athletic Association, 5460 U.S. 117 North, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. at his residence.
