MARGARET GRADY

On August 20, 2004, Margaret Daniels Grady quietly went to be with her Lord.

Margaret was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Daniels of Riegelwood, N.C.

After being a long-time educator in the New Hanover County Schools, Margaret moved her family from Wilmington, N.C., to Dudley, N.C., where she later retired from the Wayne County Schools. A lover of politics and education, Margaret was very active in the Democratic Party in Wayne County, having served as a national delegate at one time. She was also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Margaret was married to the late Vernie C. Grady of Dudley, N.C. One son, Vernie Grady Jr., preceded her in death.

Surviving family members are a son, Joseph Grady, and his wife, Genise, of Raleigh; a daughter-in-law, Elvera Grady of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, Vernie Grady III, Carla Grady and Matthew Grady; one sister, Eula Brown of Riegelwood, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home in Wilmington, N.C., on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, from 6 until 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, Goldsboro, N.C.

Local arrangements are being handled by Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
