MERLIN HUGHES
DUDLEY -- Merlin Dallas Hughes, 83, formerly of Albion, N.Y., died Wednesday at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Mount Olive.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Lily Chou will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
He was born in Wayne County, Ohio to the late Alfred and Miriam Sheets Hughes.
A veteran of the US Air Force, Mr. Hughes was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Hughes; two sons and daughter-in-law, Brent Hughes of Wilson, Richard and Susan Hughes of Albany, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Carlton McIntosh of Dudley; a daughter-in-law, LeAnn Hughes of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Lela Wiser of Tallahassee, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen and Ronald Hughes.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and other times at 482 Eagles Nest Road, Dudley.
