MATTIE M. STEVENS

Mrs. Mattie Mae Stevens, 53, of 1000 South Oleander Ave, died Tuesday at her home.

She was born March 2, 1951, in Sampson County to the late Joyce Stevens and Jessie Brewer. She graduated from Hargrove High School in Faison and received a B.S. in Social Work from R.I.T. in Rochester, N.Y.. She later received her Masters from Robert Wesley school in Rochester. She was a former employee of the Department of Social Services in Wilson County and was employed at Neuse Correctional Facility in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at New Stoney Hill Church. Dr. H.E. McNair will officiate. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by four sons, Jacob, Reginald and Jimmy all of Goldsboro and Paul of Germany; two daughters, Jennifer and Gwndolyn both of Goldsboro; two sisters, Jeah Joyner of Faison and Grace Williams of Clinton; three brothers, Jessie Darden of Clinton, Randy Stevens and Sonnie Stevens, both of Texas; step-parents, Sonnie and Hattie Stevens of Turkey; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held today from 3 until 9 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at the home.
