ALICE STOKES

SMITHFIELD -- The funeral for Alice Faye Lassiter Stokes, of 926 Seaboard St., Goldsboro, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Johnston Central Alumni Center. The Rev. Ashley Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Stokes died Thursday, July 15, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was 50.

She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Helen Berry Lassiter. She was employed by K.R. Edwards Tobacco Co. and RHA Group Home until her health declined.

She is survived by her husband, James Ronald Stokes of the home; a daughter, Tomegue Lassiter of Smithfield; a son, Christopher Lassiter of Fayetteville; two stepdaughters, Treva Herring of Goldsboro and Shornda Dildas of Fort Riley, Kan., two stepsons, Raphel Stokes of Nebraska and Gregory Stokes of Goldsboro; four sisters, Jeanette Penny and Doris Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., Margaret Potter of Selma and Vaness Bass of Smithfield; a brother, Jessie Evans of Philadelphia, Pa.; and five granddaughters.

The viewing hours will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Walter Sanders Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Tomegue Lassiter, 900 Rand St., Smithfield.
