Allie Estelle Dail Pittman died on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.

She was born on October 27, 1910, in Pitt County. She was 93 years old. The oldest of six children, she was the daughter of Luther Dail and Clara Rebecca Jolly Dail. Her husband, Paul H. Pittman, and a grandson, Paul H. Pittman III, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Paul H. Pittman Jr. and his wife, Mary Glenn Randall Pittman; two grandchildren, Mary Katherine Pittman Compton, and her husband, David O. Compton Jr., of Co. Cork, Ireland, Rebekah Pittman Leonard and her husband, William A. Leonard, of Lincolnton, N.C., and Laura Newsome Pittman of Atlanta, Ga., wife of the late Paul H. Pittman III; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Elspeth Compton, Charles Kiser Leonard, Benjamin Davis Leonard, Samuel Burns Pittman, and Annie DuPre Pittman; and three sisters, Jean Tillett of Louisville, Ky., Brownie McLawhorn of Winterville, N.C., and Clara Lou McLawhorn of Ayden, N.C.

Her caregiver was Edna L. Jones.

She attended Eureka College (now Mount Olive College). She was a lifelong member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church near Winterville, N.C. She attended First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro, N.C., where she was active in the Women of the Church and the Scotch Closet program.

Interment will be Saturday at Wayne Memorial Park at 10 a.m. and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday at First Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m., following the interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clara and Luther Dail Scholarship Fund, Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson Street, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365; or First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
