PEARLIE HARRIS
Pearlie Parks Harris, 72, of 702 Eleventh St., died Sunday, July 4, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A homegoing service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church, Seven Springs. Elder Anthony Davis Sr. will officiate. Entombment will follow in the W.G. Broadhurst Memorial Gardens, Indian Springs Road, Seven Springs.
Mrs. Harris retired from Wayne County Public Schools after 30 years of teaching elementary education. She was an active member of the Fayetteville State University Alumni Association.
She was a lifelong member of Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities including recording secretary, president of the Pastor's Aide Club, church announcer, member of the Mother's Board, Home Mission and Senior Choir.
She is survived by her husband, Tucker Morris Harris Jr. of the home; one son, Ulysses Harris and wife, Deborah, of Raleigh; one daughter, Beth Williamson and husband, Chuck, of Greensboro; nine grandchildren, Lauren, Brian, Jonathan, Jordan, Gabrielle and Aaron Harris of Raleigh, Cory, Chase and Camden Williamson of Greensboro; four brothers, Robert Parks of Seven Springs, Paul Parks and wife, Dora, of Goldsboro, Bobby Parks and wife, Velma, of Portsmouth, Va., and Leon Parks of Newark, N.J.; three sisters, Mary Hazel Lofton and Jean P. Whitfield and husband, Lenston, all of Goldsboro, and Bettie Marie Boykin and husband, Monte, of Mount Olive; other brothers and sisters-in-law, Viola Jones, Elma Parks, Verta Johnson, Maryanna Harris, Tom Hamme and wife, Audrey, Mary Scott, Linda Parks, and John Fleming and wife Hortense; two aunts, Mary Ruth Williams and Fannie Bell Parks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The body may be viewed Friday from 4 until 9 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., and the family will be present to receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence and will assemble there on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. to prepare for the funeral procession.
