HELGA HAMMOND

SUTTER CREEK, Calif -- Helga Hammond, 86, died Saturday at her home.

Born in northen Germany in 1918, she was the daughter of Dr. Ewald and Elisabeth Von Ahiften Schulte. She married Ludwig Storz in 1939, with whom she had two children, Ingrid and Ulrich. The marriage was brief, as Lt. Storz was killed during WWII fighting on the Russian front. A widowed mother of two, her home and country destroyed, she moved to England in 1949 to build a new life. There, she met and married United States Air Force officer William Hammond.

Mrs. Hammond is survived by her daughter, Ingrid Quick of Goldsboro; her son, Ulrich Storz of Portola Valley, Calif.; three granddaughters, Karin Thompson of Goldsboro, Tanya Quick of New York and Mika Storz of California; and one great-granddaughter, Kate Thompson.

The family will hold a private memorial service as requested in Mrs. Hammond's final wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Amador Hospice or Senior Center of Jackson, Calif., 95742.
