BETTY WILLIAMS

Betty K. Williams, 75, of Hanahan, S.C., formerly of Goldsboro, died Wednesday after a long illness.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Carolina Funeral Home in North Charleston, S.C. The family will be there to receive friends from 5 p.m. until time for the service. They also will receive friends on Saturday from 12 until 2 p.m. at BoBo Funeral Chapel in Spartanburg, and a graveside service will follow at 2:30 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her husband, Jarvis M. "Joe" Williams of Hanahan; two sons, Kerry Williams of Davidson and Joseph "Jake" Williams of Summerville; one sister, Leola K. Sanders; one brother Howard E. Kirby; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams was born in Cowpens, S.C., to the late Albert Vernon Kirby and the Nellie Jackson Kirby. She graduated as valedictorian at Cowpens High School and attended Cecil's Business College in Spartanburg. She worked as an office manager at Bill Rucker Insurance Company and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 6211 Murray Drive, Hanahan, S.C.; or to the American Stroke Foundation, 11902 Lowell St., Overland Park, Kansas, 66213.
