MARY H. FIELDS

Mary Susan Holland Fields, age 78, of 126 Mary Marsh Lane, Newton Grove, went home to rest in peace and comfort with her Lord on Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. She was the daughter of Burton Holland and Lillie Bell Bass of Mt. Olive, a member of Manley Grove Church. She had endured on this earth for many years, was an accomplished Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, a friend to all and everyone throughout her life. She had a talent for being a seamstress, she worked at Sampson Sewing and Hemco for a number of years. She was a homemaker and took very good care of her family, all eight of the children and grandchildren also. She would never turn her back on none of them no matter what the situation was, she always there for them. She had many trials and triumphs to do and to finish.

She is survived by her sons, Henry Fields of Goldsboro, Joe Fields of Nashville, Dean Fields of the home, Lonnie Fields of Mount Olive, and James Fields Jr. and wife Kay of Mount Olive; daughters, Ruth Denning of Newton Grove, Lillie and Reuben Harrell of Mount Olive and Shirley Stedman of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Timmy and Sherry, Tammy and David, Terry and Lisa, Gail and Scott, Glenda and David, Donald Ray and Lori, Kim and Frankie, Wesley, Scott, Ricky and Rhonda, Micky, Crystal, Kenny and Summer, Richard and Suzanne, Deanna and Aaron, Michelle and Johnny, Janel and Bradley, Belinda, James and Jamie, Jessica and Justin; great grandchildren, Brittany, Heather, Maggie, Brandon, Cullen, Reliegh, Ashley, Amanda, April, Courtney, Ryan, Sydney, Aaron, Tyler, Caleb, Eli, Nathan, Kathryn, Zachary, Matthew, Cody, Brandon, Keith, Mary Beth, Dakota, Elizabeth, and Eric; a sister, Carrie M. Hinson of Rosewood; half brother, Burt Holland Jr. of Four Oaks; half sisters, Doris Young of Goldsboro, Annie Rose Moore of Dunn and Ruby Smith of Four Oaks; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Holland, a sister, Ruby Whitman, and half-brothers, William and David (Ervin) Holland.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Bryant and Marvin Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Jordans Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family members will greet friends Monday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. And at other times they will be meeting at her home at 126 Mary Marsh Lane, Newton Grove.
