MARGARET GREENE
Margaret Becton Greene, age 84, died Saturday at her home.
She was born to Georgia Jones and Jesse C. Becton and was the wife of the late Byron J. "Snag" Greene. A charter member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, "Snag" & Margaret owned & operated Quality Bicycle Shop from 1946 until they retired in 1985. Following the death of "Snag" in July 1994, Margaret continued to be active in the church she loved so much, and in the various associations and organizations to which she belonged.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Byron J. "Johnny" and Mary Catherine Greene; grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie) Greene and Kenneth (Kenny) Murphy; sister, Alma B. Morris, of Mt. Olive; sister-in-law, Carolyn Flowers of Ocala, Fla.; and "grandpuppies" Andy and Zoe.
The family will greet friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
