DANIEL SCHADE
United States Air Force 1st. Lt. Daniel Schade, 25, died Monday morning from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born at Torrejon Air Base, Spain, to Richard and Araceli Schade. He attended Bitburg High School in Germany, graduating in May of 1996. Following High School, he attended Valdosta State University, where he was a scholarship student in the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps and majored in criminal justice. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in May of 2001 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force that same month. He received an assignment to Joint Undergraduate Navigator Training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, arriving in May of 2001, and earning his Navigator Wings on August 22, 2002. Following Navigator school, he attended the Electronic Warfare Officer's course at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. He was promoted to first lieutenant on May 30, 2003. Following Electronic Warfare Officer school, he was assigned to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina in June of 2003. He went through the Basic F-15E Qualification Training Course in the 333rd Fighter Squadron earning Air-to-Air "Top Gun" honors for his class. He joined the 335th Fighter Squadron in February of 2004 and finished his Mission Qualification Training in April. He deployed with the 335th Fighter Squadron to Cold Lake Air Base, Canada for Exercise MAPLE FLAG in May.
Lt. Schade's military awards included the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Training Ribbon. He logged a total of 290 hours of flying time in the T-34, T-39, AT-38 and F15E.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning at 11 at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Chapel.
In addition to his parents, who live in Valdosta, Ga., he is survived by one brother, Albert Schade, also of Valdosta.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
