RICHARD McGREW

PIKEVILLE -- Richard Ernest "Dangerous Dan" McGrew, 70, of 503 W. Church Street, died Monday at Avante Nursing Home in Wilson.

Mr. McGrew was a retired agent with the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company and had worked with the Goldsboro Fire Department for a number of years. He was a member of Boise Friends Meeting and had served in the United States Air Force.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Spivey officiating.

Mr. McGrew is survived by his wife of 46 years, Thelma Faust McGrew; his daughters, Rebecca S. Taylor and husband, Scott of Fremont and Dana R. McGrew of Fremont; his sister, Grace Ann Simpkins of Texas and Christine Oddie of Ohio; his grandchildren, Brandon Sherman of Goldsboro and Victoria McGrew of Fremont; his step-grandchildren, Kimberly Taylor and Alan Taylor, both of South Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Brianna, Serenity and Justin; and his cat, Chubba.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720 or to the Parkinson Disease Association, 1250 Hylan Blvd. Suite 4-B, Staten Island, NY 10305.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home following the memorial service on Thursday, and other times at the residence.
