CYNTHIA B. WOOD

LAGRANGE -- Cynthia Brittain Wood, 93, of 616 S. Caswell St., died Thursday at her residence.

Mrs. Wood was born in Craven County to the late Carlton Wayne Brittain and Catherine White Brittain. She was the wife of the late Curbia Whitford Wood Sr. and was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Wood Suggs. She was a member of White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church. She had a great love of working in her yard and attending to her flowers. She also enjoyed ceramics, basket weaving and quilting.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the reverends Greg Stancil and Joey Crumpler officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wood is survived by eight children, Peggy Whitley of Bethel, and Dalthia Eason, Earl Wood and wife, Jean, Carroll Wood and wife, Helen, Kirby W. Wood Jr. and wife, Nancy, Marjorie Warters and husband, Tom, Mary Ann Smith and husband, Paul, Linda Taylor and husband, Wilbur, all of LaGrange; four sisters, Vera Ipock of Cove City, Evelyn White of New Bern, Margaret Kaley of Elizabeth City, Pa., and Virginia Coppings of Richmond; brother, C.W. Brittain of LaGrange; special nephew, Jason Wood of New Bern; two special care givers, Jessie Mae Colie and Belinda Davis; 23 grandchildren, 30 grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
