ROSALIE SMITH

Rosalie Sutton Smith, a much beloved mother and grandmother, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, after a extended illness.

Mrs. Smith was born in Lenoir County to the late Milton and Delilah Creech Sutton on October 29, 1917. She was wife of the late Floyd Alton Smith and a member of Beston United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. A graduate of ECTC, now East Carolina University, she taught Home Economics for thirty years in the Lenoir and Wayne County Public Schools. A talented and creative seamstress, she shared her abilities with many.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. T.C. West officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Meredith S. Uzzell and husband, Paul Everette Uzzell; son, A. Darius Smith and wife, Phyllis Smith; three grandsons, Brad Uzzell, Chad Uzzell and Will Smith; granddaughter, Leslie Smith Hunter; three sisters, Chrystal S. Beaman of Snow Hill, Charlotte S. Jones of Kinston and Edith S. Smith of Lewisville; along with a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl L. Sutton.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service and at other times they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Uzzell, 5194 US Highway 70 East, Goldsboro.

Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
