LUTHER CREECH

AYDEN -- Luther Daniel Creech, 88, of 10174 Country Home Road, died Wednesday at his residence after an extended illness.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. Pastor Pete Williams will conduct the service.

Mr. Creech was a native of Johnston County, was the son of the late Clarence and Flossie Penny Creech, and was the widower of Mary Edna Dixon Creech. A U.S. Amy veteran of World War II, he was a retired farmer and truck driver and was a member of St. Timothy's Christian Church in Gardnersville.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Jones Smith Creech; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary C. and J.D. Boyd of Goldsboro and Linda C. and Al Suggs of Walstonburg; stepchildren and spouses, Norma Faye Lewis of Ayden, Linda Kay and Harold Jones and Larry Ray and Cathy Smith, all of Clay Root; brothers, George "Bill" Creech and J.C. Creech of Greenville; sisters, Cornelia C. Johnson of Benson and Mozelle C. Byrd of Durham; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
