OPAL L. SIMMONS

Opal Lee Sias Simmons, age 74, of 102 Southfield Lane, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center

Mrs. Simmons was one of nine children born to the late James B. and Matilda Sias.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Doug Nalley will officiate. A private entombment will be held Thursday at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Simmons and her husband Joseph J. Simmons were wed on June 29, 1945. For the past twenty years they have made Wayne County home. Before her illness, she worked at Wal-Mart, enjoyed being with her family and friends and spending time with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph J. Simmons; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and John Ed Smith and Patsy and Bob Cook; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Peggy Simmons and Chester and Brenda Simmons; ten grandchildren, John Smith, Dee Custer, Kathleen Luzadder, Larry Cook, Patsy Van De Hey, Kerri Huerta, Kevin Simmons, Phillip Simmons, Angie Simmons and Christine Lewis; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Rev. Arnold Mollett.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
