PHILIP WHITLEY

PIKEVILLE -- Philip Ray Whitley, 40, 105 West Vail Street, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Sauls and the Rev. Charles Lynn Renfrow will officiate. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Dixon Family Cemetery.

Mr. Whitley was a leader for the Pikeville P.F.W.B. Church Royal Rangers, served as the church's music, light and sound director, was a member of the men's prayer breakfast, and was a care group and lead team sponsor.

He is survived by his wife, Cassie R. Whitley; a daughter, Kayla Whitley of the home; a foster child, Deanna Edwards of the home; two sisters, Theresa Medlin and Joyce Bass of Kenly; and a brother, William Whitley of Selma.

He was preceded in death by a son, Garrett Whitley, and a daughter, Sarah Whitley.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service tonight.

Memorials may be made to the Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 336 Nahunta Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or Wayne Christian, 1201 Patetown Road.

Coley Funeral Home in Kenly is serving the family.
