ESTHER THIGPEN

KINSTON -- Esther Athalene Sutton Thigpen, 87, of Britthaven of Snow Hill, died Sunday.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howard-Carter Funeral Home. The Reverends Bobby Williams and W.J. Forehand will officiate. Burial will be on Thursday morning at 11 at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Thigpen was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kinston. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dimeon Thigpen, her mother and father, Mamie and Ernest Sutton, and her stepmother, Maybell Westbrook Sutton.

She is survived by a son, N. Harrell Thigpen of Kinston; a sister, Elizabeth Mitchell of Longwood, Fla.; two brothers, Wilbur Sutton of Calypso and Kirby Sutton of Clarksville, Tenn.; two half brothers E. H. Sutton of Albertson and Tommy Sutton of West Virginia; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the funeral, and other times at the home of Harrell Thigpen, 589 Tyree Road, Kinston.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to First Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, Kinston, N.C., 28504.
