FRANCES D. YOUNG
SMITHFIELD -- Mrs. Frances Darby Young, 88, died Saturday at Smithfield Manor.
A native of Vidalia, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Darby and the widow of Jack E. Young. Mrs. Young was a former member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Smithfield and was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vidalia.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery, Vidalia, Georgia.
She is survived by her sons, J. Darby Wood of Goldsboro, Clark E. Young and wife, June, of Roanoke Rapids; daughters, Sue W. Ferguson and husband, Ken, of Smithfield and Claire Y. Talley and husband, Jim, of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by a brother, James Darby; four sisters, Crystelle Chastain, Ann Garrett, Betty Page and Rose Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a memorial contribution be made to the Public Library of Johnston County, c/o Jean Stowers, 205 Market St., Smithfield, 27577.
