WILLIAM EVANS

Mr. William Jackson Evans, 69, of 366 Forehand Road, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Wake Medical Center.

Born in Wayne County on August 8, 1934, he was the son of the late George S. and Mattie Forehand Evans. "Mr. William" was a faithful member of Patetown Church of God for forty-four years and church clerk for thirty-two years. He was a retired farmer and a beloved icon at the Crossroads Café.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Patetown Church of God with the Reverends Allen Stocks and Alton Childers officiating. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sauls Evans; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Susan Evans of Pikeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Keith Easom of Wilson; three grandchildren, Dustin and Don Ross Evans of Pikeville and Lauren Easom of Wilson; a great granddaughter, Haley Evans of Pikeville; two brothers, Jimmy Evans of Pikeville and Johnny Evans of Faro; three sisters, Mary Bell and Mattie Coor of Goldsboro and Pattie Smith of LaGrange.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday night, and other times at the home of Donald Evans, 918 Forehand Road, Pikeville, N.C.

Funeral arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home.
