MOUNT OLIVE -- Carl Ray Coley, 70, of 407 North Martin St., died Monday at his home.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home with Minister Wayne Allman officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Coley, son of the late Carl M. and Mary Ezzell Coley, was the retired fire marshal of Wayne County, having served in that capacity from 1973 until 1993. He was a former member of the Mount Olive Rescue Squad and had been a volunteer fireman with both the Mount Olive and Grantham fire departments. He was a former dispatcher for Wayne County and had been fire dispatcher for the Mount Olive Fire Department in years past. He attended Baker's Chapel Presbyterian Church and had served in the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie West Coley of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Theresa Coley of Grantham; and two grandsons, Justin and Jacob Coley, both of Grantham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Hannah Coley, and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Joyce Coley, who lived in Mount Olive.

The family will receive at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m., and at other times at the home.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to one's local fire department.
