RICHARD B. ELLIS

Richard Bryan "Bud" Ellis, 68, of Lenoir, died Thursday at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lenoir.

The family will be at the church at 1:30 p.m. to receive friends prior to the service.

Mr. Ellis was born in Goldsboro to Virginia E. Ellis and the late John B. Ellis. He attended Atlantic Christian College and was district operations manager of the Lenoir District of Southern Bell Telephone Company, retiring with 36 years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He officiated at college football games for 19 years , including Atlantic Coast Conference games. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lenoir.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Roberts Ellis; two sons, Richard Bryan Ellis II and William Samuel Ellis of Lenoir; two daughters, Jonie Ellis bush of Naperville, Ill., and Jenny Ellis Flaherty of Apex; seven brothers, John, Billy, Charles, Jimmy, Jerry, Larry, and Steve Ellis; one sister, Dottie Gower; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund of the First Baptist Church, Lenoir.

Pendry's Funeral Home is serving the family.
