EARL KYSER JR.
COLUMBIANA, Ohio — Earl Elbert Kyser Jr., 78, of 1229 Lower Elkton Road, died March 27, 2004, at Salem Community Hospital after a long period of declining health.
Mr. Kyser was born in East Palestine, Ohio, the son of the late Earl E. and Mable Forney Kyser. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II in the South Pacific aboard the S.S. Wallowa in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard. He worked for the F.C. Russell Company for 13 years and for National Rubber Machine Company for 28 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Columbiana and formerly attended Zion Hill Church of the Brethren where he served as a trustee. He was a Boy Scout Master with Troop 16 for several years, and a member of the Armed Guard of Pennsylvania and the Merchant Marines of Boardman, Ohio. In better health, he enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard and garden. Most of all, he loved visiting with his family and friends.
Mr. Kyser is survived by his wife of 55 years, Erma Burkey Kyser of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Keith Kyser of Selma and Larry and Susan Kyser of Columbiana, Ohio, daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Tim Everly of Hubbard, Ohio and Jo Ann and Robert Wiggs of Kenly; grandchildren, Kurt Kyser of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jason and Zach Mitchell of Ellicott City, Md., Kobi and Beau Briggs of North Canton, Ohio, and Brent and Tamara Mitchell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Jessica Mitchell and Ty Briggs; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jeanna Kyser of Garland, Texas; a sister, Doris Hawkins of New Waterford, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at the First Christian Church with Pastors Len Derico, Clarence Mansfield and Jeff Swain officiating. Burial followed at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren cemetery.
