SADIE STARLING

CLAYTON -- Sadie Deans Starling, 80, sister of Ruth Spence of Goldsboro, died Thursday morning at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with the Rev. Tim Strickland and the Rev. Norwood Starling officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Luke Long officiating.

Mrs. Starling was born in Johnston County to the late George Henry and Mary Hawkins Thomas Deans. She was the widow of Junior Person "J.P." Starling and was a member of the Chapel of Hope Church in Clayton.

In addition to her sister, Mrs. Starling is survived by a daughter, Linda Starling Brown of Raleigh; a son, Tim P. Starling of Raleigh; two other sisters, Kathleen Cook and Mildred Allen of Clayton; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Wake County, 1300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh, N.C., 27605.
