WILLIAM R. PIERCE

WILSON -- William R. "Billy" Pierce, 75, of 1816 Lynn Drive, formerly of Kenly, died Friday at Wilson Medical Center.

Mr. Pierce was a teacher at Selma School and North Johnston High School for 16 years and principal for 17 years at Micro Elementary School. He was a member of the North Carolina Educators Association, a former member of the Lions Club, and a member of Kenly Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in Kenly Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Kenly cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Joyce Sugg Pierce; two daughters, Sue Hixon of Fountain Inn, S.C., and Lynn Byrd of Clayton; two sons, Bobby Pierce of Kenly and James Pierce of Selma; and two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Saturday at the Coley Funeral Home of Kenly.
