Michael Gene Phillips Sr., 46, of 167 Merlin Lane, LaGrange, died Saturday at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Dr. Ricky Dawson and the Rev. Danny Wellington will officiate. Burial will be in Old Mill Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips was the son of Sarah Phillips of Dudley and the late Henry Phillips Jr. After graduating from Goldsboro High School in 1976, he was employed in construction and factory work.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Edna Mitchell Phillips, one son, Michael Phillips Jr., and two daughters, Jessica Phillips and Sadora Phillips, all of the home; two sisters, Thelma Diane Phillips Surgeon and Sharon Phillips Scott of Lumberton; and one brother, Leander Phillips of Raleigh.
The viewing hours will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Rhodes Funeral Home in Goldsboro and the family will be there to greet friends from 7 until 8 tonight.
The funeral procession will line up at the home of Sarah Phillips, 213 Rollingwood Drive, Dudley.
