MARY JACKSON

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mary Jennette Jackson, 83, died Monday at Duke Hospital.

Daughter of the late William Rufus and Sallie Blanchard Jennette, she was a resident of the Mount Olive area before relocating to Durham, where, recently, she had been a resident of Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center.

She was a retired school teacher, having taught mentally handicapped students at North Duplin Elementary School at Calypso.

Her survivors include a daughter, Jan Jennette Jackson and husband, Eric C. Hamilton, of Durham; a son, Randy Jackson and wife, Robin Moye Jackson, of Mount Olive; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Jennette Hamilton and Katherine Irene Hamilton of Durham, and Sarah Rebecca Jackson and Lacy Rene Jackson of Mount Olive; a brother, A. L. "Jack" Jennette and wife, Lucy, of Hendersonville; and three sisters, Christine Romoser of Wilson, Dorothy Kelly of Raleigh and Virginia Brock of Wilmington.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Calypso Presbyterian Church in Calypso, with Dr. Greg Day officiating.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. At other times, friends may call at the Randy Jackson residence at 334 Leon Flowers Road, Mount Olive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Mary Jackson Library Fund, North Duplin Elementary School, P.O. Box 325, Calypso, N.C., 28325.
