GEORGE M. GOFORTH JR.

Mr. George Mark Goforth Jr., 83, of 603 Prince Avenue died Saturday.

A native of Caldwell County, he was the son of the late George M. Goforth Sr. and Nell Myers Goforth. Mr. Goforth was a 1942 graduate of North Carolina State University and retired in 1975 from the North Carolina Farm Extension Service. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and the Golden K Kiwanis Club. Mr. Goforth served in World War II and was a retired major in the United States Army Reserve.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Saint Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Billy Seate officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Malissa Godwin Goforth; daughter, Nell Myers Goforth Wiggins and husband John Thomas Wiggins of Goldsboro; granddaughters, Malissa Goforth Wiggins and Leslie Myers Wiggins both of Goldsboro; sisters, Carolina Butler of Littleton, Col., Helen Cox of Forence, Ala., and Margaret Myers of Fort Myers, Fla.; brother, Preston Goforth of Neckarau, Ger-many; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family request memorials be made to Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, 27530 or to the charity of one's choice.

The family will receive friends today from 4 until 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
