Irma Jean Barwick Rowe, 69, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Sasser and the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Rowe was born in Wayne County, was the daughter of the late Oscar & Gladys Broughton Barwick and was married to Rev. J. Rudolph Rowe. A graduate of Garner High School, she also graduated from Wayne Memorial Hospital Nursing School as a licensed practical nurse. She was previously employed with Wayne Memorial Hospital and as an industrial nurse with Barry of Goldsboro. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pikeville, where she served as the W.M.U. Director, a Sunday School teacher, and as a member of the Adult Choir.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Catherine and Kenneth Gardner of Pikeville and Lynne and Tommy Herndon of Pikeville; a son and daughter-in-law, William Thomas and Vivian L. Rowe of Dudley; a brother and sisters-in-law, Oscar Barwick Jr. and Alease Barwick of Pilot and Gwen Barwick of Raleigh; two sisters, Eunice Chalk of Knightdale and Mary Joyce Esancy of Wendell; and five grandchildren, Clay and Crystal Gardner, Elizabeth Rowe, and Reagan and Trent Herndon.

She was preceded in death by a son, George Oscar Rowe, and a brother, Braxton Barwick.

Family members will greet friends Saturday evening from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
