JAMES C. JORDAN

Retired Chief Master Sergeant James Clifford Jordan, 68, of 321 Buck Swamp Road, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jordan Family Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Dorman will officiate.

Mr. Jordan was born in Magnolia on January 25, 1936, to Elias James Jordan and Meggie Johnson Jordan. He graduated from Turkey High School in 1954 and enlisted in the United States Air Force for 30 years. He retired in 1985 at Offutt Air Force Base as a Chief Master Sergeant. Upon his retirement, he worked for Science Applications International Corporation as a defense contractor for the Air Force. He later worked for Sears in Belleuue, Nebraska, and in Goldsboro until 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Jordan of Goldsboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. James Richard and Lisa Jordan of Stafford, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Terry Keller of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren, Matthew Jordan, Natalie, Amanda and Alexis Keller; three sisters, Irene Waters of Clinton, Mildred Pate of Warsaw and Marie Hassinger of Stuart, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Richard Franklin Jordan. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533, or to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.

The family is being served by Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
