County to see temperature increase as arctic winds move out of the area

Wayne County residents can expect a drastic temperature change starting today as arctic winds give way to almost spring-like temperatures by late week.
Nighttime lows that had been in the single digits over the past several nights will range instead from 34 degrees tonight to 56 degrees by Thursday night.
Monday's daytime high will reach 41 degrees and 51 on Tuesday.
The high will drop back to 48 on Wednesday before reaching 64 on Thursday and 69 on Friday with a chance of showers on both days.
"It looks like our steady feed of colder air is coming to close," said Gail Hartfield, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Raleigh. "We are looking at highs tomorrow should be in the low 50s, around 50 on Wednesday.
"Thursday it could get into the mid to upper 60s and Friday. That will be a shock."
It will be a drastic change from the past week's record-breaking arctic blast.
The National Weather Service recorded 201 hours of freezing or below freezing temperatures at Raleigh Durham International Airport breaking the record of 157 hours set in 1982 .
The National Weather Service does not keep temperature data for Wayne County.
However, nighttime lows reported in the county over the past few days include 10 degrees on Jan. 5; 6 degrees on Jan. 6; 5 degrees on Jan. 7; and 9 and Jan. 8.
