Wayne Community College announced the January dates for the WorkKeys(r) tests for the National Career Readiness Certificate, or NCRC.

The NCRC is recognized by employers across the state as a proven measurement of job skills. Wayne County leads the state with more than 16,600 certificates awarded. An estimated one-fourth of the county's population holds the credential.

Individuals may earn bronze, silver, gold or platinum certificates based on their test scores.

Tests will be administered at WCC on Jan. 17 and 24 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. and on Jan. 30 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., in Room 136 of the Walnut Building.

Cost to take the set of three skill assessments -- applied math, graphic literacy and workplace documents -- is $36. Pre-registration by calling 919-739-7004 is required.

Free assessments are also offered to military personnel and dependents, at the Airman and Family Readiness Center on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Call 919-772-1123 for information and to register for the next testing session.

Self-directed instruction and skills upgrade training is also offered in the WORKS Lab, Room 136 of the Walnut Building. The lab is open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until noon and on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The lab will be closed on Jan. 15.
