A free dementia caregiver workshop will be held next month, featuring speakers and an opportunity to experience the virtual dementia tour.
Sponsored by AlzNC, Alzheimer's North Carolina Inc. and Eastern Carolina Council on Aging, the event will take place Nov. 7 at Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center on Ash Street.
From 9:30 a.m. until noon, the virtual dementia tour and screenings will be offered.
The virtual tour provides a simulation of what it is like to live with dementia.
Nurses will also screen for fall risk, depression, blood pressure and cognitive issues.
During the afternoon session, from 2 until 4:30 p.m., several speakers will share about dementia, Alzheimer's and what North Carolina is doing to be more dementia friendly. There will also be a discussion on getting through the holidays with a loved one who has memory loss.
Registration is requested by Nov. 3.
For more information or to register for any of the sessions, call 252-638-3185, extension 3011.
