A motorist suffered several small cuts to his face early Tuesday morning after someone threw objects at his vehicle, breaking the windshield and side window.
It was the seventh such object-throwing incident reported along U.S. 111 South since last week.
According to a Sheriff's Office report, the Tuesday victim was driving south in the 2100 block of N.C. 111 South around 2 a.m., when they passed a dark-colored passenger sedan driving north.
As the vehicles were passing each other, an unknown person in the sedan threw an unidentified object into the victim's front windshield, causing two circular indentions in the windshield and breaking the driver's side window.
The total cost of the damage was estimated at around $1,400.
The victim could not identify the make or model of the suspect vehicle, and sustained several small cuts to the face, according to the report. The victim was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care for further evaluation.
The incident came after six other drivers reported having their vehicles struck by thrown objects on the road.
The first three incidents happened between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, when three vehicles traveling on N.C. 111 South were struck with thrown objects.
One victim, whose car was struck twice, said that she saw a white car, being followed by a pick-up truck, both times that her vehicle was struck.
She believes both vehicles were involved.
Three more vehicles were struck between 11 and 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26.
One victim said that she observed a red car swerving in the opposite lane and believes the occupants threw something at her vehicle.
The other two victims observed a white pickup truck with loud exhaust, and believe the occupants threw something at their vehicles.
