University of Mount Olive to host Founders Day Nov. 15

MOUNT OLIVE -- The University of Mount Olive is celebrating 66 years of faith-based high education. The celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in the Southern Bank Auditorium.

The event is a time for the university family to reflect on and honor those who invested in the beginnings of the institution and celebrate its future.

The guest speaker will be Dianne Brown Riley-Gray.

Gray, a native of Johnston County, received her associate's degree from Mount Olive College in 1967, her bachelor's degree from Barton College in 1969, and her master's degree in religious education from Southeastern Theological Seminary in 1984.

Gray began working at Mount Olive College in 1973 as an admissions counselor and held several positions during her 38-year career with the institution including: associate director of admissions, director of admissions, assistant professor of Christian education and director of alumni relations.

In 2011, Gary began working as Director of C hurch Ministry at the Free Will Baptist Children's Home.

The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values.

The university, sponsored by the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists, has locations in Mount Olive, New Bern, Wilmington, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Research Triangle Park, Washington, Jacksonville, and in Smithfield at Johnston Community College.
