The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating after several drivers had their windshields smashed by thrown objects on N.C. 111 South Thursday night, according to multiple sheriff's office incident reports.
The three reported incidents took place within a half hour of each other, with the first reported at 11:04 p.m., the second at 11:13 p.m. and the third at 11:25 p.m.
In all three, the victims reported that, while driving south on N.C. 111, the driver of a northbound vehicle flung something at their windshields as the two vehicles passed.
The first victim described the other vehicle as red and "swerving all over the road like a drunk person," while the other two victims described seeing a white pickup truck, according to the reports.
In the third report, the victim said that their vehicle, a company truck belonging to Maxwell Foods LLC, was the second vehicle owned by the company to be damaged on N.C. 111 that night.
No one was injured in the incidents, and no suspects have been identified. The damage inflicted across all three cases totaled to around $1,800.
