Someone stole thousands of dollars in electrical appliances from an unoccupied, flood-damaged home on U.S. 13 South Thursday evening, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office investigation report.

According to the report, the owner of the property was checking up on his building when he noticed that a General Electric smooth top range, range hood, dishwasher and some copper wiring were all missing.

The victim did not witness anyone stealing the items, and could not determine a point of entry, but did observe a man at an adjacent property. The suspect was not the owner of that property, and could not explain why he was there, according to the report.

The missing items were worth around $2,000 in total. No arrests have been made in the case.
