Robbery victim chases suspect off with kitchen knife

A woman reported to Goldsboro police that a man assaulted and robbed her as she went into her home early Sunday morning.
The 65-year-old victim told police she arrived at her home on the 3800 block of East Ash Street at about 1:54 a.m. and was going in her side door when a man came up from behind her and pushed her into the wall of her carport.
The suspect ripped the woman's purse from around her neck and then pushed her again.
She fought back and chased the man off with a kitchen knife, but the suspect got away with her purse, driver's license, bank cards and $400.
The man, who is described by police as a black man wearing a gray jacket and blue jeans, ran away from the scene heading east on East Ash Street.
The victim was treated on scene by Wayne County EMS for injuries sustained in the incident.
Goldsboro police are investigating the case.
